I'll see you at the end.

You'll see me on the floor.
  • The general concensus is that this place is a heap of shite.

Some of us are still using BR but most of the regular sanbox members are at www. ukmb. org. uk

[edit] Oh for fuck sake. Get over yourselves BR.
They don't want you seeing the adress of the other site. PM someone if you really want it.

A large proportion of the old users had a strop and created another site. It's URL is censored on here because of them spamming us. It's the initials for United Kingdom Mountain Biking .org

There's a few still here, though.

I still check here for anything interesting but thats about it. This is my second or third post since the merge. The tech section isn't really in-depth or advanced enough to hold my interest when compared to ridemonkey and the rest of the forum doesn't interest me too much because Im not looking for the whole online social scene- end result another non br forum user.

Is that the address you meant? and what's up with all this filtering?

Guess it could be my internet connection being gay... i'm downloading music at the moment.

What the cocking hell is this??? My that post i just posted was changed seconds after i posted it... And there's a big rectangular advert covering-up the posts at the top of the screen. This is well fuxed. :(

    Still can't find the
    u - k - m - b - dot - org
...site though... have i got the address right?

How active is this alternative forum then? are there many regulars from mbuk using it? Are El Cap and Alex there?

Was it changed after posting, or censored on posting?

Yeah, it's a bug. I don't know where it is, but since it's only Gecko that does it, I reckon it's there.

It's not as active as I'd have expected it to be, TBH. But on the other hand the site wasn't all about the forum to me. Alex and El Cap are there.

    Excellent.... thanks Big Red S...

    *goes to take a look at u - k - m - b - dot - org - dot - u k
  • u k m b does the job. It's just about busy enough but I can't see it growing to anything near what mbuk was.

TBH we dont want MBUK. Its not a forum for a magazine any more. Its for the regulars that need somewhere to waste away their lunch breaks and skive off work. Just somewhere that fills the gap that the changeover left for people.

IMHO the off-shoot UK.MB forum is just a giant sandbox.

both the offshoots will soon become stale i expect. Same pple posting, no fresh members. It's like a closed forum really for all the deserters of the old places. Good luck to them, it's their loss.

The WMB resreve forum is getting on average 6 new users a day,not sure of the stats on the UK.MK forum, but they are getting new members daily too.

No loss to me, I post here, on Uk-Mtb & UK.MB, I just prefer Uk-Mtb to here.

It's more of a loss to you as you're only posting on here :P

    Made me chuckle.

Yeh we have a couple of new people every day. We have also been working on some plans for advertising and there is plenty of room for expansion.

Not our loss in the slightest mate. Forum does what we set it up to do. Were happy with the odd new person. New things happen every day to talk about. New technology. New things to break for the tech section to fix.

If anything its been a great sucess and will continue to do so. By all means come over to our forum and give it a go. You may like it.

Edit: 4 new members today :D

i dont know if i'm breaking some unwritten code here but i dont think this site is all that bad, we get a more varied set of folks for answers to questions and the topics seem pretty standard stuff, i dont really understand why everyone got such a monk on when the merge happened, all of the bits are still here, whats wrong with the sandbox on here as oppossed to the one on the break away forum.

i did join t'other forum but found it to basicly be a bit of an old chums site based more on chewing the fat than actually being about bikes, and i get the impression that's the way they like it.

    sheepsteeth, think you're right.

Think of a group of young children who are moving from primary to secondary school. They are fearful of the new pupils and teachers they have to mingle with, so they sit next to each other in class and sit away from the others at lunch/break time.

I think that's what happened to the MBUK 'crew'.

i completely hold with their right to do as they please and i can see why the guys in their sandbox like it, it's alot like the old place. I just dont see whats wrong with this place, the format is good, the topics are well classified and we have access to more people for their opinions, advice and experience.

to be fair, there is even a sandbox provided for their convenience
  • I'll post on here, both for myself and to answer peoples questions, and I'll do the same on UKMB.

It was mainly down to the way the transition occured, it felt like a hostile take over rather than a merger. People who'd practically run the Forum when people at Future/MBUK had left it alone. THAT's the reason some of us left this one. It's an ok forum, it does what it sets out to do, and to be honest, it isn't the bloodbath of roadie against Downhiller, downhiller against WMB that I expected it to be, everyone seems to get along fine, and there's little or no trolling (or the mods are on top of it).

Overall it's a pleasant place to be, but lacks the feeling of a community.
YES I know it's a forum, but with the MBUK forum there was just a nice, casual air about it. Lots of discussion about bikes, and also lots of random crap too - after all, yeah, we are bikers, but are still human and need somewhere to gossip let of steam.

I don't feel this place has the liberal atmosphere, with some of the mods/admins SEEMING like they have a "holier than thou" attitude, and unwilling to take on critism, whether constructive or otherwise. Hell I suppose they put a lot of work in so they're bound not to like it.

I'm going to keep on posting and visiting this forum, it does seem to be getting better, but at the moment, it has no distinctive character that really attracts me to use this one rather than any other, but I guess it will develop in time, and I'm certainly willing to give it the benefit of the doubt.
Shut up. And ride your bike.
