Ladybower - advice apreciated
Me and a mate are looking to do a Ladybower route on Sunday 19th August, and have around 5hrs to spare. But we have a few questions:
After looking on the net for routes around Ladybower, there appears to be many permutations. Is there are more recognised/followed route than others?
Also, I hear starting from the Fairholmes visitor centre is a good choice? Any other better starting points? We intend camping locally, and cycling to the route. So we don't need to start at a car park necessarily.
We are both intermediate at best, both on hardtails. Can anyone offer a good long tough route, but one that won't kill us or the bikes? Not sure we're ready for the Beast yet!

I've just finished uploading my route round ladybower. It's based on the classic + the beast approx 34km total ascent is 4100ft
There is pics of the route and profile here
I can send the GPS mapping details if you have a GPS unit, some long uphills and great decents. Will definately work those legs.

That's great. Thanks to both.
Dax - I have an old garmin eTrex. Will this be suitable?0 -
Yes it should accept the GPS trl file.
I've now uploaded the route to Tracklogs site
link below
http://www.tracklogs.co.uk/cgi-bin/publ ... ute&id=337
You can download it direct from their site.
I've waymarked most of the route.
There is only a bit of road riding (bottom right of map) 200-300mtrs (I hate riding on the road)
Let me know how you get on.Dave - Spin instructor

Been on to Tracklogs, and when I click "download TRL file", it just shows a line of code. Is this right? Your route says it's still being processed, could that be the issue?0

The file is correct, your browser will detect the file as text, so you are viewing the actual file.
Use right mouse button to Use "file save as" or "save link as" and then import to your your mapping software then upload to your GPS device.Dave - Spin instructor

what time are you doing the ride?
me and a mate need to get some training in (for a 57km Ladybower area route) and could join you if you fancy enlarging the group a bit...
We're both on hard tails and an intermediate level at best... could be fun.

On this map you can see the actual waypoints, No 16 is the beast. Alleged to be the scariest downhill section in the Peaks.

The link has the full picture, I assuming there is a limit on what can be displayed ont he forum
