Strange but annoying creak

I have noticed a strange creaking noise coming which seems to be coming from my crank area but cant for the life of me figure out what it is or how to stop it. It is worse when i put more pedaling pressure on it i.e riding up very steep banks or especially when starting from a stop. As i need to ride up steep banks so i can frighten myself to death coming back down the hill i need to get rid of this annoying creak.
The bb doesnt seem loose as the cranks do not shift side to side when pushed by hand. Im not the heaviest rider at 11 stone either. I stripped and re-greased the peddles and sorted out the play in them and they are tight onto the crank arm.
The bb is an isis splined type and it seems to spin fine back wards and farwards when on the flat. I do jump the bike but havnt had any big drops or slams that i can attribute to this.
Any ideas????????

Try taking of the cranks and apply some grease on the splines,it worked for me,if that fails check out chain ring bolts0

when going up these steep banks are you seated or standing?
the reason i ask is that i had similar creak which turned out to be the seatpost and or saddle.i greased and tightened both and it stopped.

I have tightened the seat post and seat, that was the last creak i had but managed to solve, thanks, its strange how sound travels.
I removed the crank on the ring side and greased it but to no avail. I will try the other side next to see if it works.
Thanks, anymore ideas keep em coming.0 -
it may be your pedal.

That\'s what the wrist is for - gloves.
You know you\'re a biker when... ...your arms are brown, and your hands are totally white...
