Air shock pressures

I just bought a used Marin Nail Trail with RS Pilot SL forks. The bike's in really good nick, and on the road test it felt great. The seller said he had pumped up the forks a bit as he mostly rode on the road.
Last night I took it out on a local trail, and the fork was really unhappy - clicking and jolting over bumps. I feared the worst, so I got it home and checked the fork pressure - ~60psi. According to the table on the fork, the correct pressure for a guy my weight (ahem, 95Kg) is 20psi. Tonight I let the forks down and took it for another run... I am glad to say it's now peachy. Feels much better, with no clicking and crashing. Remarkable what following the recommendations will do eh?
Si.
