right, ive just got my new frame, brought as a renovation sort of project, and im getting it shot blasted and powdercoated this afternoon. ive managed to srtip it down to the bare frame, all except the headset cups.
It hasnt got any bearings with the headset, and its a fsa pig. after the powdercoatings done and iv got it back, how should i go about getting it all as a bike. i know it sounds stupid but im still not great with all this :S
i managed to get the bearings out of the BB, and inside the BB is just plain, i allways thought there was a thread inside the BB??
Its US / BMX BB, and i would mind some suggestions as to what DJ crank and BB to get for it.
I think thats my only queries, so thanks for reading and any suggestions welcome =]

check out:
Alans BMX
Source BMX
Profile/Odyssey/Primo/fly are a good starting point, then you just have to work out your gearing for you sprocket/rear cog
Primo Hollowbites are a good crank.... worth looking into

Also a lot of BMX BBs are press fit bearings (so no thread) usually the bearings and a spacer in between) - just tap in with a rubber mallet
US / Mid / Spanish are the most common BMX sizes0 -
ye, it has some old profile bearings in it at the moment, i am looking at a profile spindle and spacers on ebay..?? then wondered if it would be worth getting just some arms..??
=/
and yes, iv now noticed the fact it has a 'push' fit BB, which is odd, il have a look on alansbmx etc and see what i can find.
Also on the subject of the headset, is it worth just getting a ne one and using the bearings from the new one, as i dont think the cups are going to be coming out anytime soon
=[
thanks for so far

Hhhmmm, my LBS took out some really stubborn cups that I had no joy getting out... only charged a £5
it would be worth trying to do that rather than faff around exchanging bearings etc
You can get a FSA pig for about £16 quid which I have on my mongoose - sturdy as hell.
To be honest, not worth going on ebay, look at Alans for BB bearings (they are cheap as opposed to MTB ones) here:

Also, most crank arms come with an axle, just make sure you know what size to buy (19mm/22mm) then you need to buy appropriate sprocket!!

If you're getting the frame powder coated then you really dont want to leave the headset or BB cups in as the paint will seal them in place making them a whole lot harder to remove.
If you're not confident in removing them yourself then as someone else said, your LBS shouldnt charge too much too do it.
If I were you I would get a new headset as another FSA Pig wont cost you much.
As for cranks, my suggestion would be Profile Race Cranks. All the neccessary BB bits and bobs are included (you can choose Euro or USA BB) and for an extra 35 bones you can upgrade to a titanium axle (on AlansBMX). They're currently on my wish list
Other than those my suggestion would be Primo Hollowbites, Odyssey 41 Thermal or even some Gusset or FSA ones if you're on a budget.Current:

Totally agree! Meant to mention that earlier!0 -
may be worth your while removing the headset cups and bottom bracket etc. and do a build before you have your frame powder coated so you learn how to do it before you scratch your nice new paint job.0
