Rear mech ??
I want to upgrade my rear mech to match my new chainset, was looking at chain reaction they have a good price, but I am a bit confused as both ultegra mechs have in the advert that they work with triple chain sets, mine is a double, it does not mention if they work with double, does any one know if they would or do i have to find one that actually says double any help would be good ,thanks. One was 6500 and the other was 6600.

different model years, 6600 last year (10 speed), 6500 the year before (last of the nine speeds).
Cage length denotes whether it's suitable for double or triple chainset. The longer cage enables the derailleur to take up the greater chain slack that a triple has over a double.
I don't know what size would suit you best, but what have you got fitted now?0 -
Hi Johno, I have a short cage mech at the moment with a double chainset.I thought it was a short cage that I needed, it was a bit misleading in thier ad , because in brackets it said for use wih a triple, with no mention of a double unless they are presuming every one knows that it works with a double and were letting people know that it works with a triple. Thanks for your help.0

a triple mech (GS) will work with a double but a double mech (SS) is better (lighter, crisper, looks)
Planet X has 10spd Ultegra for £33 delivered
The 9spd mechs on CRC are for triples (GS)
The 10spd mechs are available for both GS and SS but are £37Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0
