Hi All

Not surprisingly, but Sonicred actually reveals a love of red: I now have a red bike, red seat and now red pedals.... missing red tyres

Can anyone recommend a good road race/puncture resistance red tyre (circa £20 - £30)?

They'll be mycombined training tyres and for sportives

Also, how different is rding on 20 vs 23 tyres? I've never ridden anything smaller than a 700 x 23

Thanks for help

Michelin Pro Race 2's and Michelin Ironman's look really funky in red and Vittoria Open Corsa's come in red. You can also get GP4000 in red. These are all race spec tyres. Afraid I've never used any them so cant comment on them - I use GP4000S which only come in black.

Tyres seem to be a very personal choice - one person will love one type of tyre while another person will loathe the same tyre. As far as puncture protection goes I think this mainly relies on luck and riding style - I personally cant see there being much difference in puncture protection across brands for similar specced/ purposed tyres - they'll all have been subjected to similar amounts of r&d. So in other words, go for the one's that look the nicest and see how you get on with them!!

Never ridden on 20's so cant comment!!

p.s. Why is this forum geared for American English? Its TYRE not TIRE!!

Michelin Pro Race 2s without a doubt. Fine and very sexy tyres!

Vredestein Fortezza Tri-Comp. they don't come in full red, AFAIK but with a red tread/sidewall. I used to be confirmed Michelin user but the cost of some versions is getting daft. The Vittorias Opens are a great tyre but can last less than 1000 miles.

I wouldn't bother with 20mm tyres, particularly for training / sportives. The additional comfort of 23s is far more beneficial than any aero savings.

Another for the Michellin Pro Race 2s; roll well and look great . You can get them fro about £16 each at Ribble or Parker International . If you search about maybe even cheaper .

Thanks for tips and I'll be sticking to 23s too - I hadn't thought of aero reason, but had thought it would be incomfortable to have so little air and rubber between me and the rim of my wheel

If I were you, I'd be more worried about the bit of the tyre between the road and the rim...

(sorry for the pedantry, I'm bored)
