A Wheel Dilema

Right, I've been looking at getting some new wheels for a while, mainly to be used for dirt jumping
I was originally going to get Halo Tornados, and then I looked at custom built wheels on CRC, and decied to get Mavic ex721s on DMR Revolver hubs. Becuase I'm a tart, the rims would have been the CD Dark Grey version, with black spokes, which would have come to about £160. HOwever, with the 10% off orders over £100 that they're doing atm, the wheels would be about £150 instead.
For the same money I could get Halo SAS wheels, which although being heavy, just scored pretty well in the MBUK wheel test.
And then there is the Tornados, cheaper, lighter, and of course in white. I could get these for £140.
So basically, was wondeirng which of the three people would suggest, and why?
Cheers

Was just in a similar position, am building an aggresive hardtail/freeride rig and was looking at Tornados, freedom disc and SAS - I have the SAS in white 24" on my static plan B - and although heavy (doesnt bother me - not gonna be doing and racing on this rig) they are spot on - bombproof - totally awesome and look great in white.....
Was veering towards Freedom Disc which are also a strong light wheel and faired equally as good in the test!
Either way, both great wheelsets.. strong, very good value and will last for ages!

Yep - definitely!0

Its tempting to - I'm not likely to break them or anything
But they're the most expensive of the three, and the Tornados have the same hubs - I think I'm talking myself into getting the Tornados coz they're cheapest
Anyone know how heavy a pair of 26" Tornados are?0 -
have you considered the Freedom Discs (Chris Smith sig model)
Have seen them for £140 a set
:?0 -
tornados are lighter than SAS0
-
Think my car wheels are lighter than SAS's0
-
Nah, not keen on the profile of the Freedoms - I know someone who rides with one Freedom rear wheel, and a Tornado up front, but I like the chunkiness of the Tornado of the Torando in comparison.
I know Tornados are cheaper, I was just wondering what the exact weight difference is.
And yeah, I can believe that you're car wheels are lighter.
I guess it would be sensible to workout how much my current wheels (generic Shimano hubs with ALex DM18 rims) weigh, and see the difference in weight between those and SAS's.
Howeer much I dislike it, I think I'm becoming more weight consious when it comes to picking new components0 -
According to MTB-Bitz, Tornados are 2650g for a 26" pair, SAS are 2910g for a pair of 26" wheels
So, I think I'll go for the SAS, as the difference isn't all that big0 -
All very good wheels - SAS are sooooo tough it's unbelievable...
Really good price as well!0 -
I know
I just need to work out when to order them so that they arrive on one of my days of...0
