bushings

Basically, is my bike likely to have a bushing...
only reason i ask is there seems to be a very slight amount of play, not really much actual motion, just I can make it knock slightly if i lift it by the seat and put it back down. Doesn't affect the riding but stitch in time saves nine and all that.
Also does it look like the sort of suspension where i can take the swingarm off myself and have a look, or will a very rare breed of oil and a billion washers drip out, resulting in something that can only be put back using a stupendous force from a machine that there's only two of in the world - or is it just a case of unscrew, check, replace if worn, screw back on in reverse order of taking apart, torque up and that's it?
What actually is a 'bushing' in bike terms - and does it mean the same as on a car? I've changed a trailing arm bush on a beemer before and that's basically two concentric metal cylinders separated by stiff rubber that connects the suspension up to the body.

ignore me! top shock bolt was loose... went to loosen it to have a butchers and it turned far too easily... tightened it up and play is gone. have to get some threadlock for that bugger!0

For future reference, that's the bushing that'll wear quicker. Because the rocker link moves more than the lower shock mount. If you feel play in it again, and the bolt is tight, replace the upper shock bushing.( not where you point to in the pic, the one on top of the shock)It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.0
