Tyre size

I looking at getting a decent set of winter tyres for commuting on my road bike, to replace the cheap halfords ones.

The tyre's I have now are 700x25, but would 23s fit properly on the wheels?
I like bikes...

    Yep no problem at all. That said, a lot of people, including me tend to use wider tyres, i.e. 25 mm, for the winter as the extra contact area gives better grip in slippery conditions.
