Hi,
I am after a bike, simply to get to work and back. I have a cheap bike at the moment but would like something a bit quicker and nicer to ride. I want to spend up to £250, can you recommend something? I am not keen on road bikes and would rather a mtb really.[/b]

    Hi Zug,

I'd take a look at the Carrera Subway from Halfords, pretty light and fast, built for this type of riding. Its a hybrid.

As for other 250 quid mtbs, I'd have a search through the beginners section, lots mentioned on this price such as GT Avalanche 3.0, Decathlon Rockrider, Giant Yukon and Mongoose Tyax.
  • I've just bought a Rockrider 5.2 from Decathalon and I'm very pleased with it. I don't know much about bikes but what I do know is...It cost £200, iIt's really light and I've ridden it on trails and roads and so far have been a very, very happy girl! Previously I've always had cheap bikes and IMO that extra money really does make a difference.
