light knee protection

Hi all
I need advice on a nice light set of knee pads. ( only XC , no mad stuff but longish spins 3-4 hours )
problem is that I have a cartlidge issue on my knee caps which makes any kind of knock on my knee very sore so I need some padding/protection. a knee guard that squeezes over the knee from a strong neoprene etc. makes problem worse when cycling. I nearly always wear knee warmers but something that keeps the knee cap free moving would be ideal. I dont mind if its hot. someone suggested the 661 veggie lites but looking at pics they look quite closed around knee.
Anyone have these or could suggest an alternative.

Thanks again

PAUL

  • Hi, I have some veggies and I use them for XC. At first I was weary that they might be uncomfortable, and sweaty for long rides but they're great! They do have a hole at the back to let your knee breath a bit and it works. They also look ace. They allow your knee to move alot once they have stretched, after a couple of rides, and you completely forget about them.

The only bad point I can think of is the stitching is a bit crap, and comes apart a bit.
