BB rubber insert?

MBUK previous issue says : "Lance McDermot fixes a 4mm piece of rubber around his bottom bracket to stop his cranks spinning, on tricks where he takes his feet off."
I like the sound of that and would like to do it my own bike. The only thing is i dont really understand what rubber to use (inner tube?) and where to put it on the bottom bracket?
Does anyone know what i should do? Or any other ways to stop the cranks spinning on there own?
