Folks I have recently sought some advice on Planet x bikes.
My query now is regarding their TRi bikes.Which model/spec would people recommend?
The stripped down version is on offer currently, but is this too basic? :?:

I assume you mean the stealth? The basic build is a very good price, the only real downer is the wheels. So I'd say get the basic build but upgrade to aero wheels (Planet x 50s or mavic cosmic carbones if you prefer clincher). Keep the std wheels for training wheels or the front for really windy days

The next one up only has a couple of differences - Dura Ace derailluers, carbon brake levers and and ultegra chain / cassette with the alta race wheels. That isn't a huge perfromance increase for £200 as the 105 front and rear deraileurs do 90% of the job of the Dura Ace. Carbon brake levers are for aesthetics, and the cassette / chain is only about 10g lighter. You would still want aero wheels......

So I'd say the base build is the one to get but spend some money on aero wheels.
  • Many thanks for the advice, much appreciated
