Good bike shops worth a trip to

Anyone know of any large bike shops with decent stock to make a trip to? Round here we've got a few locals with not much other than XC/road stuff or Evans in Milton Keynes which again stocks a lot of XC stuff and not much that im after.

I could really do with some shorts, a new full face lid and some other general bits, and fancy making a trip further afield one day to check out what there is, but i can't think of anywhere.

Im based in Bedford (post code MK45) so anything in this general end of the country that might be worth checking out would be appreciated.

Ta very much,
Tom

Isn't CRC mail order only anyway? But yeah, would have been good if it wasn't for that big puddle in the way.

  • have a drive to Benfleet, Essex. JD Cycles are superb and have a coffee bar.

The owner Jay is cool and it is easy access from the M25, with a petrol station nearby to help fill up for the return leg!

Fancy riding in the Lake District? It's a long way but if you fancied a weekend in the Lake District you could visit Bike Treks (top choice) & Ghyllside cycles in Ambleside and the massive Wheelbase in nearby Staveley. Further north Keswick Mountain Bikes are good. On the way up to the Lakes you'd pass Merlin Bikes in Leyland too. Any of the bikeshops in Manchester or Liverpool are kind of the way too but that wouldn't leave any time for riding.
