I'm doing the 58 mile ride for the Anthony Nolan Leukaemia Trust. Never before have I attempted such a ride. Rather anxious but also terribly excited :) . High5 energy gels and their 4:1 carbohydrate and protein drink I have found th be good have also invested in some of the GO bars. Feeling a bit stiff though as got knocked of bike  by another female driver I was wearing loadsa fluorescent gear but she clearly wasn't LOOKING! Us female drivers aren't all that bad.
Any one have any sound advice for what else I could do to make it a more pleasurable ride. The ride itself is though some of the beautiful areas on the Suffolk coast.
Hope it's not TOO HOT! 8)

It is indeed a lovely ride and was the first long ride I ever attempted a few years ago. The ride goes from Woodbridge to Snape and then on to Dunwich on mainly quiet roads. The last few years have not gone through Aldeburgh to Thorpeness which is a shame because that coast road is lovely but the road to Aldeburgh is probably deemed too busy and dangerous.

Looking at Metcheck it isn't going to be too hot at about 22 to 23 degrees which should be ideal. An easterly wind will give you a good ride back and keep it slightly cooler.

The ride isn't too tricky in terms of hills, it is a bit lumpy towards the end but this is Suffolk not the Peaks! Bike Events tend to provide water at most marshall points and the cafe at Dunwich at just over halfway gives plenty of opportunity to fuel up. Personally I would take two bottles on the bike, one with a carb/electrolyte drink the other with plain water, a banana and a couple of energy bars, Fruesli, flapjack, malt loaf whatever you fancy should be plenty as you can eat at Dunwich if you need to anyway. Take a plastic bag with enough carb/electrolyte for a bottle, drink one bottle on the way to Dunwich and get it re filled at the cafe. The plain water bottle is there if you need it, or, if you get hot can be poured over the head and shoulders.

If you can get in a group that's going your speed then the ride will be the more enjoyable. I always like someone to chat to. Take it easy and it should be a nice day.
