With rims between 28-32mm depth is it necessary to use extra-long valves?

Additionally, what tubes would you recommend in general?
I've just been using the same that came with the bike (Spesh 700x20-28c).

I would say yes, maybe not absolutely necessary but will make life easier.

From memory, think you can get short valve stems (30mm?), 46mm (medium) and 60mm (long).

I'd say the mediums should do (need these for Kysrium wheels).

My personal preference is to use thicker tubes.................the Bontrager X-Lite thin ones are too fragile for my liking.

yes, the bontys are very light and thin. one kick off latex. vittorias and spesh turbos are a bit more robust but still a nice weight saving over standard spesh tubes.

lagavulin, have you ordered those damn hoops yet??? :D

Yes, but I went a bit silly I'm afraid.
Ordered a pair of DT Swiss RR 1850 in white.

I did another 49 miles this morning on my Alex 400s and the rear is just getting worse so next month I think I'll be ordering yet another set of wheels. Fulcrum 5 Evos but I've got a month to choose between black or silver

I like it ... planning the next upgrade but one, with the next upgrade yet to be installed. May your house become a stable for wheels like mine!

Haha, yeah. It was never the plan but it could turn out that way.

Hopefully my DT's will arrive in the morning and I'm looking forward to a weekend in the saddle.
Supposed to be out Saturday night but I can see myself slipping away early to get up at dawn on Sunday.

    Thanks again for the help.
