Fort William or Aviemore

Live in Innerleithen - so normally ride Innerleithen cross country route and then Black at Glentress for a change.

Have a weekend escape coming up and was looking for best recommendations to ride XC - either Ben Nevis or around Aviemore. Will be camping and have a full day on the Saturday and then quick ride on the Sunday morning, Any thoughts greatly appreciated

    At Nevis you have all the fun that Leanachan Forest has to offer: most obviously the Witches Trail XC route and the Downhill but there's plenty of good non-waymarked XC in there too. See here: http://www.nevisrange.co.uk/summer/biking/biking.asp

    Wolftrax at Laggan is not far from Aviemore: the red and blue routes are fun in a theme park type of way; the black is very rocky and quite technical and to my mind less enjoyable. See here: http://www.laggan.com/wolftrax.htm

    There is of course loads of old school XC around Aviemore (and Nevis). Ive done the Burma Road route and Loch Einich route among others (you should be able to find these via a quick search on Google): they're not at all technical and the descents wont really test you but they take in great scenery.
