Best advice I ever got was "better get a bike then"
Cycle commuting since 1994. Blog with cycle bits.

IMO its a ridiculous waste of time. Travelling round the world on a bike should be about exploring and the experience should be savored, not rushed just for some ridiculous record.

And he's missing out the most interesting continent - Africa.
    More problems but still living....

I agree, It's a ride most people do once in a lifetime, why not take the time and enjoy some of the many different countries you ride through?

There on a five year round the world tour, they just finished their first year, four more to go. We've been following them since day one. Great site with some nice pics.

I was hoping to have had a crack at this record by now, but I lost so much money over the last 2 years that I haven't started yet. Still, I'm pleased that his target is 210 days because mine was 199. With a bit of luck I'll have a difficult target to beat which will make it far more exciting.

By the way, I'm also planning on several leisurely laps of the world. If you can only do it once, then doing it without stopping to smell the coffee is a terrible waste.
