Cassette spacer required for Mavic Wheels?

Hi,
I was helping a mate build up a bike at the weekend. Came round to fitting the cassette (9 speed) onto the Crossride rear wheel (bought 2nd hand) and the cassette was loose. The smallest sprocket & lockring were fully tightened up to the cassette body. Tried another cassette and was exactly the same! Should the have been a slim spacer that fitted behind the cassette?
Cheers,

Yeah, I believe that Mavic factory wheels need a spacer to fit behind the cassette. They should come with the wheels.East Anglia Biking Collective!

Yes, my Crossrides came with an aluminun spacer/ring that you put into the hub first before the cassette/cog. Then torque the lockring as specified.0

Your LBS should have some. The same sized spacer (I'm pretty sure) fits behind Hollowtech II BB cups to pad 68mm shells out to 73mm (2.5mm thick)."Internet Forums - an amazing world where outright falsehoods become cyber-facts with a few witty key taps and a carefully placed emoticon."0
