Campag Eurus views?
I'm in the market for a new pair of wheels and like the look of the Campag Eurus wheels. Has anyone got a pair and, if so, how do they ride?
I've a pair of the Ventos on my commuting bike and, whilst being a little on the heavy side, they are very robust. I imagine the Eurus are similar but significantly lighter.

I looked at a pair a couple of years ago - but ended up buying some Ksyrium SLs - purely on the basis that the Mavic bearings were a little smoother. A friend has a pair and they've been good and reliable for him. Campag have a decent 3 year warranty too. I'm thinking about a new pair of wheels too and will probably go for the Shamals - which are a little bit lighter.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Campag Eurus are excellent wheels I bought a pair in 2004 and I do on average 100 miles a week on them and they are still going strong and are as true as the day I got them and the hubs are still running smoothly. As for how they ride I really like them but then again I haven't ridden enough other wheels to compare them. Getting Conti tyres on them can be a bit tricky as they are a bit of a tight fit.'Hello to Jason Isaacs'0

I've just got some Zondas which are basically the heavier version of the Eurus. Only ridden them a few times so far but I've taken them over the worst of Berkshires roads and they're fine. They are much more comfortable than the Shimano wheels I had. The Campagnolo freewheel is very loud - which may or may not iritate you. Oh and they look ace which is obviously important0

Eurus are more aerodynamic than Ksyriums, and I think the bearings are better too. I've got the 05 versions with the narrower bladed spoke which is better in crosswinds. A great wheelset.0

i've ridden them and shamal ultras which are a lighter version (carbon hubs, slightly thinner spokes etc.)
both good.
nice record hubs are very smooth and roll well. record quality. enough said!
big alu spokes are strong, but not very aero and not very comfortable (compared to spokes like DTs or Sapims)
Very robust - will hardly ever, if ever, need trueing.
Very stiff. Fine if the frame is comfy. Could be too much on an aluminium/harsh carbon frame.
Go for it!0 -
I have just completed building a bike with '06 Eurus wheels. First impressions are good, which I expected given how pleased I am with my '05 Zondas. Quite a noisy freewheel, as others have pointed out, but I quite like that!0

I really like Eurus wheels. On my first ride with them I really noticed being pulled along and they were stiff enough for sprints too. They were 2003's so I think they are a little lighter than the latest set.
In 4 years the front wheel has never needed to be trued, but I have gone through a cassette free hub body and a couple of driveside spokes. I have recently put them to rest as I wore out the braking surface on the front wheel - they have been through 45,000 miles in all weather - so they are durable.
I have replaced them with a set of DT Swiss 1450 Mon Chasseral wheels and I find these faster despite the shallow profile and non aero spokes.
You won't go wrong with a set of Eurus wheels.0
