Shipping Cycles within UK

Hi,

Got a chance to buy good second hand cycle but too far away to collect, have looked into getting it collected an delivered but many companies have restrictio on size or they are just uneconomical.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Is the seller unwilling to post it to you?

If you know the approximate weight and size of the package you can call up Royal Mail, DHL, UPS, City Link etc for a quote. This is for sending stuff ovbiously but it might be worth calling them to see if they can collect and deliver too.

I bought a bike of eBay recently and it cost the seller £16 odds to send it via Royal Mail. I've seen some sellers charge as high as £40 but I suspect they're just profiteering.

For info Parcelforce seem to be cheapest but they have a restriction on size and say they enforce this rigidly, this is max 1.5m long AND Length + Girth should be max 3m (girth equals 2 x depth + 2 x height or circumference).

This is difficult to acheive with a large adult bike as with wheel off you need about 1.2 m L x 0.7mH for frame alone.......leaving about 0.2m for depth!

Could not find anyone else to ship at reasonable cost seems on-line cycle stores have accounts with companies that are not accesible to privarte individuals (non account holders).
