Thinking of getting a racer again

Bear in mind it's been years since I had a racer (a Peugeot Virenque team Alu bike)
I'm looking for a decent bike for longish 60mile+ road rides up to £800ish.
I've been looking at the Chris Boardman Comp and Team bikes
http://www.boardmanbikes.com/
And quite like the look of them and I also like the Lemond bike below

I'm not going to be racing but want something light and fast for long rides and wondered if these were any good
Is the extra cash worth it for the Boradman Team over the Comp model ?
I'm not thinking of a racer again because of the Tour de France by the way, I've got mountain bikes but I've tried long road rides on them and even with slicks on it's tough going

I'd recomend Specialized Allez Sport
Nicely built and nice to ride.
I love mine
And, it seems, the 2008 range is now outRichard

Specialized bikes are very good (I've had 4 Spesh MTBs) but how do they compare to the ones I listed ?Dave S0

You could get a Cinelli Xperience for 800 pounds. That way you get a Campagnolo Mirage groupset, Khamsin wheels and a cool look that few others around you will have. I would think about how low you want the bars though. Threaded stems are gone, and it's tough to get a lot of height with a threadless stem (unless you go nuts with spacers). You might consider a Dawes Audax or Bob Jackson for something more relaxed.0

i just bought one of these for training:

Thanks for the advice, the Spesh and the Trek are looking more likely now.
Even from my MTB background I can see quality components all over that Trek 2000 mainly because I'm aware that Bontrager make good MTB wheels and components too.
Shimano Ultegra seems a solid and light drivetrain too.
I might check that out and see if they've got one in my sizeDave S0 -
