I assume you mean rear brake, and the bike currently has the outer cable in several sections..
The main problem you are likely to face would be that the cable guides on the frame will be too small to accept your outer cable, most people who do this just zip tie the cable in place.
I'm not sure what you mean by not knowing how to thread the inner, please explain your problem. Do you mean fitting it through the levers / brakes etc or physically pushing it through the outer ?
Tools : good cable cutters / wire cutters, allen keys, screwdriver. A third hand tool can be handy for setting up the brakes, but by no means essential.

well some how my old outer,s the insides kept breaking though the end caps and ripping my jeans. they also used to brake where they go though the gussets by the head tube. and they look good 8)0
