After 2/3 weeks of debating I'm down to two choices for a set of training wheels.
Fulcrum 3's or kysrium Elites.
I can get them at the same cost, approx 370€, both look good and both weigh about the same.
So what's it to be?

the fulcrums are put together better-i.e. youll probably have to get the elites trued after a few rides (and get the threads loctited)

but youll probably get a hernia and blisters on your hands getting the tyres on and off the fulcrums!

I have some 2005 Elites, never had to true them once and never had a spoke come lose.
And I know what you mean about getting the tyres on
  • I've got the fulcrums which have been flawless for about 3,000 miles since I got them (& I'm 100kgs)

the rims arent that bad. I just fitted the Mrs' bike with some fulcrum 5s and gatorskins and had very few problems fitting them

Got Fulcrum 3's, had only a bit of bother with play in the rear hubs, but just tighening the lock nut solved it in 5 mins, since then no problem. Been great to ride on, but my experience only covers Alex rims DA16 and Shimano 105's.

They roll forever and as an added bonus they snap tyre levers every time you try to take a tyre off:D

Got Racing 3's and after 500 miles had absolutely no problems...and no proglems getting tyres (Schwalbe Blizzard Pro's) on and off either but maybe it's all that practice fixing punctures trail riding on my MTB?

I've got the Fulcrums and so far (c.250 miles) I've had no problems with them. As for tyres I had no problems getting Vittorias onto them.
Flying Scot? You must be joking!

Fulcrum 3 and you won't regret it.
    Every winner has scars.
  • I am really impressed with he Fulcrum wheels I bought. They are seriously tough. They survived getting stuck in a railway track on the way to the Marmotte. I was dumped on the road without much cermony but the wheels suffered bo damage at all.

The more I ride them the more I like them. Oh an they sound great when bowling along :D
