Hi,
Has anyone got any opinions on the Specialized Allez Expert http://www.evanscycles.com/product.jsp?style=60083. It seems to be quite a high spec bike at a reasonable price (no pun intended).

I don't know too much about wheel specifications, but would these be ok for someone who weighs in at 13.5-14 stone.

King regards

James

    James,

Allez expert is a pretty good allround bike. It should also be fine for a man of your weight. I started out on my Allez at 15st + and it was OK.

However, please note it is now 2 years old. The 2008 Allez have already started hitting the shops.

Also, as for value, if I were spending £1k+ on a bike (and I expect to be doing so very soon), then I would want Carbon. (Evans have a Carbon Trek for £1150: http://www.evanscycles.com/product.jsp?style=60611)

Also consider Planet-X for exceptional value.

    Thanks RichA,

Was hoping that now being 2 years old and the 2008 bikes being out, I may be able to negotiate on price a bit further...

Have not come across Planet X before, will look them up
