i need to get my cranks and bottom bracket off to put on my new truvativ chainguide. ive undone the bolts but they just wont come off on either side. i think it is because the bolts were on too tight before but i just cant pull them off. anyone know what i can do?
thanks

howsmyriding27 - there's a video tutorial on how to do this on the front page of the site - http://www.bikeradar.com
scroll to the bottom right and have a look. This should help...0 -
you need a crank puller.
read the how toos on parktools"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

ok ive got the crank puller and got the cranks off - but now its the bottom bracket. i doesn't slide out and there is some sort of toothed safety cap thing that is stopping it coming out. is there a special tool for getting the bb out or do you just have to give it a whack with a hammer?

the toothed thing is the bb."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
Parktools :?:SheldonBrown0 -
so the bb tool loosens the toothed things and so the bb slides out right?Hardtails aren't called hardcore for no reason

That is an ISIS bb and that is what you will be unscrewing from the righthand side.
the left side is just a treaded cup whichshould be slackened off first."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
