Seat post and shim
Lowerd my seatpost by 5mm last night as I think it was a little high but I have made the shim rise slightly in the process.
What is the correct procedure to adust the seat post ?
Should I take it completley out and grease before replacing it ?
Is this something you should do as part of regular maintenance ?
To get the shim to fit down fimly how much pressure will I have to use and how do I achieve it ?
I have had a good trawl on the web this morning and can't find anything with any detail.

Not entirely sure what the problem is. Do you have an aluminium post and shim - and frame? or are some or all of them carbon or steel.
The better manufactured seat post shims have a lip to stop them sliding down into the seat tube so you just push them into it.
For aluminium seat posts I think it is always better to give them a light greasing, preferably copper type to stop the thing jamming in the frame if you hardly ever move it - this is mostly a problem with al. posts and steel frames by the way where the different metals can cause corrosion which almost welds the parts together over a period of time.I\'m sure I had one of those here somewhere0
