The other one looks like on Orange O (?)0
-
what he one that isnt branded and can i also ask is it worth going halfers with a mate me and him want a cheap full suser that will be ok for downhill.0
-
Yeah, the unbranded one I am sure is an Orange.
They are both old, tbh its a huge risk, especially with spares and pivots. Plus the ZZYZX forks were truly awful!0 -
what this POS?
i would take it near a bump in the road."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
Parktools :?:SheldonBrown0 -
yeah that, i dont care if they are old, they are just to mess around/ get into downhill on. How are those forks crap and why wouldnt you take it near a bump in the road, what was it intended for and how will it fare.0
-
Orange X1 is what I am thinking of, you can see why!
Now I think its a voodoo frame circa 2000, its the same colour too. Gimem 10 mins I'll get the model name.0 -
cool thanks for your help, how would the frame fare up now and can some one answer my questions in my other post plz.0
-
what kind a frame you after?0
-
Things have moved on. They were short travel, and look very flexy, probably more trouble than they are worth.
ZZYZX - bushings were so loose they would lock up when cornering, the damper had air bubbles in it, they pissed opil everywhere and had horrible stiction.0 -

I would say a cheap Saracen Raw would be better tbh. I had a Dtox, made some upgrades after selling original parts form new and have a good performing 5.5 inch travel full susser for about 300 quid.0
-
cool what model should i look for and what should i upgrade and what will it handle.0
-
Well, it aint no Intense M1, but I bought mine for 300 quid. I sold the forks, wheels and shcok for 200 quid, and bought a Tora of ebay for 60 quid, RS BAR air shock for 60 and a set of Mavic XM317 on Deore hubs from Merlin. So no loss overall, but MASSIVE improvement to the bike. Put some Conti vertical tyres on, and got a nice AM bike that can take a beating. You may want heavier rims.
Fork, wheels and shcok MUST be upgraded to make the most of it.0 -
yeah but the most i have to spend is 250 on a bike so i was looking retro full bikes frames eg. specialised fsr or a saracen havoc frame or giant warp frame.0
-
Well, as above its a risk, without seeing the bike in the flesh and examing it its hard to say. By nature many have been thrashed, and spares can be hard to get.0
-
could you link me to some good autions on ebay? for full bikes i would pay up to 200 and for frame up to 100. Ive found a few frames:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/saracen-havoc-fre ... dZViewItem

The warp is a cheap full susser, but that Havoc is one of the newer ones and is quite good. San Andreas.. expensive stuff!0
-
Bear in mind that the Warp and Havoc are large frames.
If you want to do downhill, i would think you need to be about 6 ft 2 inch or more to feel comfortable on those frames.
I used to ride a 17 inch stinky and im bang on 6 ft. even that was a little too big for me.0 -
After having a fairly quick look around ebay a sarczen seems my best bet so i have also been looking at thease:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Saracen-Raw-2-mou ... dZViewItem
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SARACEN-HAVOC-DOW ... dZViewItem
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Saracen-Havoc-dow ... dZViewItem
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Saracen-Raw-Pro-D ... dZViewItem0 -
Its difficult to sum each model up, as year on year they change so much. That raw pro is terrible unfortunately, but the older havocs are ok. The raw is a newer one, tough frame.0
-
so if you had to recommend one of the above bikes which would it be and also the raw is out of it for me, its miles away for local pickup. Also if anyone could link me to a decent one on ebay/ classifieds it would be much appreciated.0
-
Out of the four that you posted, i would struggle to choose between the top two.
They are both reasonable bike for the money.
Very Important Bit
However, The Havoc is 3 inches bigger than the Raw. This fact alone should seriously sway you in one direction.
How tall are you?0 -
dunno exactly but im 14 and about 5ft 8 ish, my current avalanche is an 18 inch frame.0
-
Generally, it is wise to get a Full sus frame smaller than the Hardtail you own. This is in part due to the riding that is usually done on a Full sus. You generally need to be able to move around the bike alot more than on a Hardtail.
(notice all the generallys and usuallys. (i know that isn't english) Everyone is different so it would be good if you could try out the bike first or one of equal size)
Happy hunting.

0 -
cool thanks i have plenty of room on a hard tail l so 17.5 inches should be fine.0
-
so how much do you think one of those havocs will go for, the mister selling the red one said he wanted near 300 and i think thats excessive.0
