Gross Topic - Spitting

Question is should you spit out your saliva or keep it in.... After an hour in the saddle and many drinks it is hard for me not to have some spit that I spew out to the road. Does keeping it in aid hydration?
I mostly ride alone so there is no risk of nailing fellow bikers.

Spit it out, you know you want to. If I'm not blowing me nose I'm spitting, but if I'm on a club ride I just aim me spit down so it doesn't catch anyone.0

i think it's gross.
if you're going to spit, do it so no-one can see or hear it.
and i'm not talking the every now and then, spit a bit out, i'm addressing the terminal hawkers, the TB cyclists hacking and coughing up grimy green sputum every eight seconds.0 -

Reminds me of Manchester to Blackpool this year, I felt like I spent
most of the ride dodging other riders spitting efforts.

Agree 100%.
After a couple of years riding in large groups I can safely say that regular spitting is, in the main, a habit rather than a necessity. Ther are one or two people I simply wouldn't ride near because of this dirty habit.0 -
I tend to hit my shoe when blowing my nose. Or else it comes out in one long string and I have to wipe most of it onto my sleeve.Winner: PTP Vuelta 2007
