My seatpost, that is. I can wrestle it out, clean it and the inside of the seat tube and then, re-grease it... but then after one ride it's virtually unmovable again!

What the hell?!

My frame is an Orange clockwork from 98 and the post is orange, came with the bike.

Could the tube be bent slightly?

It certainly could be, use a metal ruler or spirit level and hold it against it when its out of the frame. If there is a gap you will be able to see the background (hold a piece of white paper behind the post when checking). How far is it normally out of the frame when riding or how close to the max height is it?

I like it pretty low, so don't think I've bent the post. Just worried I've bent the frame! It's made of steel, it's old and it's skinny tubing so it's quite possible I reckon. The seat post however weighs a ton and is really thick

More likely your frame tube is just full of corrodey gack. Emery paper and a stick!

Advice for kilted riders: top-tubes are cold.
