I am looking to get a new singlespeed and am wondering what to get (hence the post).
Criteria are
Hardtail (steel or alu, i ride steel at the moment)
Full discs
Decent wheel set (Hope Pro2 would be good)
Decent long travel forks.
It will be used for trail riding mainly, such as those at Glentress.
I have looked at the Orange P7 One and like that but havent seen any reviews and dont know what to compare it to.
I currently ride a singlespeed On One Inbred which I like but want to step up from.
Any advice would be great
Cheers
Joel

Jump it. Huck it. Case it. Crash it. Get backup. Do it again.0 -
The Kona Unit would be a good option.
There is one here for half your budget:

With the extra money i'd upgrade the rims and maybe put on a sus fork.
I ride a 2004 Unit and an Inbred and you'd definitely feel a difference. The Unit (essentially the Explosif frame) is significantly lighter and 'zingier' than the Inbred and is a tighter geometry. Great bike.

Just look at all suitable bikes in that price range - its not exactly difficult or expensive to switch to singlespeed.
It'll open up your range of choice hugely if you look at it that way0
