Upgrade forks or modify ?

Have mentioned in other threads before that whilst my Marzocchi MX comp forks work ok, the lack of lockout is a pain when climbing/flat roads etc. I`ve considered upgrading up to a max of 250 quid and like the look of the `zocchi XC500 or Rockshox Recon or Reba`s. I`ve been told that I`m unlikely to see much improvement over my current forks but surely the current level of performance plus the ability to lock out would be good ? Honestly at the moment I`m tempted not to get out of the saddle as its like being on a pogo stick ! i`ve even tried altering oil levels in each leg but to no avail.

Its been suggested I could maybe get an ETA or TST cartridge to fit the mX comps - anyone know for sure ? I`ve tried the usual suspects on the net and the Marzocchi website but no parts are listed or mentioned even if they can be fitted.

So do I splash the cash or not ?

Thanks,

robin
