I have an annoyingly creaky saddle - any ideas how to get rid of the noise?

    Which saddle are you using?

The saddle came with my Ridgeback Horizon. Own brand.

Should have said - the post is metal rather than carbon.

Take the saddle off the seatpost and the seatpost out of the frame. Clean it all thoroughly, grease the post where it goes into the frame, put a smear of grease on the saddle rails where they are clamped and on the seatpost bolt and any mating surfaces.

Put it back together and check it is all tight.

If it still creaks it might be something else. - I spent ages trying to cure a creaking saddle only to find the front wheel skewer needed tightening. It is not always obvious where a noise is coming from .

Check the seatpost cradle, too. Years ago I had an ITM seatpost with a creak (which I thought was due to the saddle) - it turned out to be a crack in the cradle (diecast alloy) which was slowly getting worse & worse. Luckily I spotted it before the part failed!

Greasing the post (um!) seems to have worked though I have only been out once and the problem is intermittent (depends on the weather?).
    Cheers for the ideas
