Narrow knobbly tyre

I'm looking for a narrow knobbly for my 26" wheels. I was thinking of something along the lines of a cyclo-cross tyre (in dimensions and tread). Does such a thing exist for MTBs?

I was thinking even narrower, like 1"! I love the Conti's, but they cut up too easily for liking.
