Specialized Toupe saddle damage

Just logging for the record that my toupe saddle has cracked at the rear end. A split either side leaving a sharp edge which my ample bum can get caught on. I had noticed two ridges appearing on the saddle but never put 2 and 2 together until this morning as I pierced my bum!

Has anybody else had this problem?

  • mine broke down one side of the gap. It was about 6 months old and the first I noticed was when the ride got a bit soggy (technical term). LBS replaced without questions, he tells me specialized are very good replacing stuff.

Thanks for that. Just waiting to hear back from wiggle. Hopefully they can send a new one without having to send old one back first,l or I'll be riding a seatpost for a bit.

With wiggle you just go to the returns section and say you want a refund. Send it back, you can order a new one straight away (before they receive it back) so you can have a replacement by tomorrow if they're in stock. Never any problems returning things to Wiggle.

    Thanks, Alfa

I'll give that a go. I noticed there is no phone number listed anywhere on the web or I would have phoned up.

I sent a leaky Altura Reflex jacket back to them last week (had it 10 months), sent it recorded delivery. I would have re-ordered simultaneously but no stock was shown on the site. Next day I had an email saying they had received it and would source a replacement. A few hours later they emailed saying they were no longer available (Altura have stopped selling them) and they credited my account and gave me a £7 voucher to compensate for hassle. I was impressed! Only thing is it takes one or two days for credit to show up in my bank account.

Hmm, I'm on the verge of buying the gel Toupe to replace my broken Felt saddle... and I'm 85Kg! I would also be intrested if this might not cope with my weight (I will probably go close to 90Kg during winter)...

  • when it broke i was about 90-95kg, riding relatively good roads. The replacement has lasted nearly 12 months now without a problem, but I have lost 10kg.

  • it is a hugely comfortable saddle for me though so I am satisfied I was in a minority. I had a fizik rondine break before the toupe and did not replace like with like. I went through a patch of thinking I was tough on saddles. I have got over it now.
