Hello all,

I'm considering buying a Scott Scale - carbon CR1 framed one, and was just after any feedback. My main concern is the longevity of the frame - will it stand up to regular trail riding etc. A mate of mine's got an MC10 (6 months old) and has just had to return it as there's a crack in the frame. He's not had any major crashes or anything so probably why I'm feeling dubious. Any feedback gratefully received !!

Cheers

I've just received my new bike, a Scott Scale 10. I did a lot of research before buying and didn't find any problems with the CR1 frame. The only issue was with the hanger as on the original was not replacable, the new versions fixed this with replacable hanger.

As I have only ridden her briefly last night I can't comment on how long it will last though, but she is a beutiful looking machine :P

    Very jealous.

I have a Scale 50 which is alu not Carbon, however, I love it to bits!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!

The only problem I have with the Scale geo, is that you are perched for XC racing, which makes you go bloody quick, but is a bit uncomfy on long runs. To combat this, I've bought a riser bar and shorter stem. Not fitted them yet, so I'll comment once I get out.

Thanks for the info. I went and got one Tuesday, haven't had chance to get out yet but looking forward to it !! X-Isle, a mate of mine rides his Limited with a shorter stem and risers and wouldn't change it. Probably the way I'll end up going too but will give the current set-up a go

It is a nice looking bit of kit

    Which version did you get?

I'm also going to try for a while and maybe change the 120mm stem for a 100 or 90, but it feels fine at the moment. Need to ride her for a few weeks and then decide whether to change anything.

I just couldn't beleive how light it was after taking out of the box. Didn't really feel like anything was there

Same as yours cjw, I got the 10. Maybe look at some monkey lite XC risers with 90mm stem but will give it a few rides. The weights great, but I'll probably go and put 7lbs on on holiday now !!!!

Do you know if they are set up as tubeless straight from the build by the way?

I own and ride a Scale 20 (Carbon) and love it.
I've owned it for over a year and there is NO wear relating to the carbon.
Go get one you'll love 'em
PS: I would recomend getting different handle bars as the "flats" do tend to put a strain on your back on a longer ride.

Pretty sure they're setup tubeless. Would seem odd to have tubeless rims + tubeless tyres and then put tubes in.
