A suitable upgrade for a Raceface ride XC chainset?

I'm going to treat myself to an early xmas prezzie soon (any excuse) and replace my chipped and prang'd chainset. Any idea on a slightly better chainset/crankset than my existing raceface ride xc??

money is fairly tight so can't stretch too far - how does a shimano lx or xt compare? or any other suggestions?

    LX as 60 quid is very good for the money. You will need the frame facing for the new HT2 though,

    Also CRC has the HT1 LX crank for 35 quid. It uses an octalink BB.

    You can probably get really good deals on XT HT2 now the new 2008 stuff is out.I have one on m bike.Light and very stiff.
    Facing and fitting can be done for less than £20.
