Shimano - Campag compatibility?

I'm thinking of getting a cheap rear wheel so as to use on my turbo trainer. I was looking at a cheap shimano tiagra wheel online but I run a 10 speed Campag Centaur groupset. Will any rear cassette fit? Do I need a specific 10speed hub? Will a shimano cassette work with campag chain etc...?
I know its a funny time of year to be asking about turbo extras!
Any help or advice is welcome.

I think the google search you want is "shimergo", I know Chris J of the CTC has a couple articles on this. IIRC, 8 speed shimano cassetes have the same shifting as 10-speed campag leavers. Another option is some custom casette maker, who could make you a campag style casette to sit on your shimano freehub ... which would no longer be cheap of course.

    Thanks for the info.
The shimergo such proved very interesting.
    Thanks
  • Ambrosio do a Campag 10-speed cassette that fits onto Shimano wheels/hubs. I think I saw it at Surosa or Fat Birds.

I have Centaur 10 speed shifters on my tourer with an 8 speed Shimano rear wheel and XT rear mech. I've run that for a couple of years and it works really well. I'm not sure about using a Campag rear mech with that set-up because although the cable pull is the same the geometry of the mech is different and you have to re-set the stops on the rear mech because you have two less gears. It might be a lot less hassle getting a Mirage rear wheel for the turbo.

    cheers

There's an Evolution cassette which is Shimano splined and 10 speed Campagnolo - try byerscycles. Alternatively, you can get a spacer kit for about £10-15 that would allow you to replace your Shimano cassette spacers with ones the right size for Campag. Try Highpath Engineering or one of the Mavic kits (grey spacers)
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
