Folks,
can anyone recommend bearings for a QR Hope Front Bulb hub,or would
the bog standard do just as well?

well have a read of the number on the side of the bearing and pop into a beearing shop. they will be able to provide the same or hight quality levels.

According to the hope parts diagram, they use two 61804-2RS bearings. (the 2RS specifies sealed bearings).

Provided you use a reputable source, the bearings will be good enough.

Unless you're mechanically competent, they're best left to somebody who knows what they're doing.
They've got to be hammered out, and the new ones pressed in.

You need some sockets to use as drifts, a big hammer, a screwdriver and some blocks of wood as supports.
Its not difficult but it takes some courage to start banging away at your wheel.

Bearings are bearings, Hope don't make them, they get them from a bearing supplier and add about £4.00 to the price!!

If you do it yourself, make sure you buy branded bearings like SKF ones rather than unbranded ones, there are pleanty of sellers on Ebay who stock SKF.

Ebay is the place for cheap ones, i got 6804s for my halo hub for a pound each or something.
