Hi. I want to get some more up-to-date forks. I currently have some Manitou SXR forks on my 2000 Marin Pine Mountain (15in) and don't really want to upset the geometry too much. Most usage is road work but it will see some cross-country/general rough stuff. Second-hand kit would probably be better for the wallet. Gotta say I'm a little bewildered :? regarding the huge range available these days and wouldn't mind a few pointers.

ok you have not mentioned what brakes your running? i guess V's still?

what was the travel of them 80mm or 100?

any way tora, reba from RS or MX from marz.

but again buget will efect the choice.

Hi. Still running the original fit Avid v-brakes. The SXR has 80mm travel and disc mount, which I wouldn't mind utilising with something quite light. I don't mind spending a few quid on some forks, I can't really get the SX how I want it plus they are getting on now (though they are in really good con). I've emailed Manitou about the firmer kit and lock-out, but might as well get some newer forks. It's been a while since I've owned a half-decent bike (last one was a Bear Valley SE, fully upgraded except for f/f), and I'm a little lost regarding suspension.

a good 80mm fork that would fit the bill would be the RS reba.
