Xenon or 105 brake pads?

Building up a cheap road bike, for use by friends who want to borrow one and for leaving in places where I don't want to leave my good one. I have ordered some 105 brake pads for it to replace the utterly ineffective blocks fitted, but I had a thought that they might be more effective than the pads that came with my Xenon brakes on my better bike. Any opinions please?

By the way, the brake calipers on the other bike are mid-80s Weinmanns, the original gold ones from a Raleigh Record Sprint, so I definitely won't be swapping the whole brakeset.

Don't knock Xenon brake blocks...they are the same compound as used in the Record blocks although of course Xenon will be integrated blocks/bolts rather than cartridge blocks.
I'd rather walk than use Shimano

I won't bother changing them then. Thanks.
