Booo hoo,
Went to Swinley the other day after a break from the place for a month or so and come back to find one of my favorite bits of trail had been driven over by tractors and trees chopped down etc.
Why oh why oh why, they could have picked any other area of the forest. I understand they have to manage the forest to keep the trees healthy etc but it's still fricking annoying!!
anyone know who does the majority of the trail building over there? I'd be happy to help put it back together

Davydesign,
There seems to have been a lot of foresting work going on recently on Surrey Hill down towards Vicarage Lane (entrance from Bagshot). Unfortunately, it is a working forest and all of the trails are built on Crown Land, but once they've finished with their harvesting I'm sure they will clean up the worst of the log debris, and the trails will then be re-formed by the locals.
Technically the trails are maintained by Gorrick and Berks on Bikes mountain bike clubs, and they have the agreement with the Crown Estate to manage the trails and perform the necessary repairs, plus they handle the permit scheme to ride there. Of course, there are lots of local riders who have built whole trails or add-ons to existing ones, and I would be fairly sure once the foresting is over, the army of individuals will be back ensuring the trails are operational once again.
Which particular trail is it that you are referring to?

Not sure what its been named as but from the reservoir if you head towards the labyrinth but just after the steep bit (the wall i think its called) you cut off left. It's got/had a couple of jumps near the top and some slight berms.
Might get in touch with Gorrick and see if they need any volunteers to help.
Do you ride there much?0 -
