Dear all,

I am after an 'all mountain' bike (first FS bike ever - hardtail fanatic until now) and have been looking at Whyte 46, santa cruz nomads etc but to be honest don't want to spend close to 3 grand (spent far too much already and the missus is not amused!)

Whilst on a cycling trip in Exeter I popped into the bike shed (great bike shop) on my way to haldon forest, the guy recommended the 07 Giant Reign 1 (approx 1900) , it certainly is a lot cheaper an fits the bill, I shall be buying at the end of the year just before the 08 launch so should prob get it even cheaper.

Does anyone ride one of these? Or had any experience? I'll obv take it for a test ride but thought I'd check first!

Cheers :D

Yeh!!! Just wacked some more air in it. It lost most of its small bump sensitivity but now when you hammer it down the hills it eats up the hits. So it seems to be working now. Though there is still a clunk from somewhere :?

Dunk a tip for you when setting the sag.

it needs setting for you in your riding position.

if you are of on an XC ride it will be one presure. if you are of on a DH sesion it will be another setting.

it all depends on body position.

Yeh i kind of gathered that from the first few rides. SOme days it was fine but other terrible. Though i think the harder setting is better as it mean you can hammer it harder down the hill with out bottoming out :D Cheers for the help. Next thing i will get is white rims i think. Mavic ex721 in white can't wait :D

Got a Reign. Maestro sus works well. Build quality is good. No regrets!
