These details were listed an hour or so ago or www.bikeforums.net but have magically dispeared from that forum. Censorship, it would appear is alive and well on some other forums. Why they would not want their members to know is strange to say the least :shock:0 -
OMG....I have seen a few of these clips when people steel bikes, and I am most surprised by those people who are witnesses and don't care about what they are seeing!cntl wrote:I found this on youtube. Guy pretending to steal bikes and recording people's reactions.

I'm afraid that most people don't get involved these days, because if you do, you will either be assaulted, or had up for assault yourself. It's a no win situation.

Its such a shame......but if I caught someone stealing my bike the record would be well worth it! lol

I can't believe you lot have fallen for the Allmax (all shite) sponsored crap on itv. Until they show unedited footage and show theeir own locks in comparison (funny how allmax left their own product out) then it's a load of crap.
No bicycle lock is 100% safe but the more you spend the more secure you are. As shown by the police footage they're not going to go after securely locked bicycles. So, ignore the allmax (all shite) hype pay for a good quality sold secure lock and keep your peace of mind.
Until allmax (all shite) signs up to and meets those standards anything they get involved in (like heavily editted copy of them cutting competitors locks but not their own) then treat them with the contempt they deserve.shameless powercranks plug
Don\'t run red lights, wear a helmet, use hand signals, get some cycle lights(front and rear) and, FFS, don't run red lights!0 -
Almax not Allmax, but thanks for the mention anyway.
ITV (Independant television Company) Not so, apparently, according to you. As they made and produced the programme, they made the decision about what to put into the show. Our chain was tested but not used in the footage. If you read the news section (on this forum) you will see the quote from us.
Our chains have been tested by sold secure and passed on every single occassion.
Gold standard for Motorcycles & ATV's, Motor scooters, Cars, Caravans & Commercial & Industrial Vehicles.
Certificate Number
MCME/0303/515 in 2003
MCME/0803/533 in 2004
CTME/1205/819 in 2005
CTME/1205/819 In 2006
Our chains now carry Thatcham accreditation
Certificate Numbers
TMC3-286/0507
TMC3-285/0507
So therefore the Almax not only meets the standards, but in Sold Secure testing broke their bolt croppers (Yes I have doumentary proof of this) Almax Chains have never failed testing by any testing body.
Almax appear in the ITV programme for 1 minute and 50 seconds. Not exactly a huge amount of time. I suspect if you were a sponser you may want a longer slot! I can guarantee we were not a sponser of the show, we were just invited to attend.
I agree with you, people should buy a good quality lock. However, they would be better doing a little reseach, rather than taking the Sold Secure Logo on face value. As their CEO admitted to MCN in Dec 05 when told that 3 of their Gold Motorcycle products had been breached in seconds with bolt croppers, that the problem could apply to vitrually every lock and chain approved by the organisation, He said "presumably all the others are equally suspect. That would be every D Lock as well, as we test those with bolt croppers as well"
So Markhr, would you buy a product on it's Sold Secure acceditation alone, knowing that their CEO said that they are 'all equally suspect'?0 -
hardly
you've trolled at least one other bicycle forum and then when it was thrown back in your face threatened legal action because no-one rolled over and accepted your views.
alllllmaxxxx - as stated on other forums the program was commisioned by ITV and not made by them - in fact I can remember the "film maker" (who just happened to subscribe to the same frums you did) throwing his toys out of the cot because no-one would believe it.
I checked the soldsecure website and, supise, suprise, there's no mention of allumixxx.... sorry, almax. Please link the part of their website with your "certifications".
I did however find your 2007 thatcham accreditation - I am actually suprised - so If you got the thatcham ok why wasn't your chain and lock part of the ITV program?

funnily I think I've said this before.
Obviously, the more you pay for a bicycle lock, the better equipped and determined a bike thief needs to be. However, if the bike thieves are committed "professionals" then no bike lock is 100% safe. Not exactly rocket science.shameless powercranks plug

The first rule of cycling is - Tell everyone how great cycling is.

There's no point in repeating yourselves, can't you keep this to one thread please?
And markhr, you seem to be ranting so much that you're damaging your own argument. The Almax people seem rather more persuasive at the moment.0 -

Apologises - point taken. My train of thought was that I needed to respond, couldn't decide which one, so replied to both.0
