Polar s7201 battery change

My HRM started reading eratically, 26%, 0%, 120% max etc (contacts well wetted)
I changed the battery in the chest unit but no change
Is it likely the watch battery has expired?
I ask because the watch seems fine in all other ways, pick up of cadense and speed sensors, display etc.
I assume that changin the battery is simply a matter of carefully removing the four iny screas on the back and lifting the cover off?
(Yes, I've lost the instructions)
Thanks

Had the same problem, check for some slack in the chest strap, or try some ultrasonic gel to put on the chest sensor (used in physical therapy), the contact will be much more better than just plain water.
Another way is to wash the sensor with mild soap to remove grease on it and then try it back...
Hope it helps!0 -
Thanks for that, tightening and cleaning has sorted most of problem

If it is the watch battery that's gone just be careful if you change it yourself. I decided to safe a few quid by getting the local watch repairer to change it rather than sending it back to Polar (like the instructions say). I knew it would no longer be water proof but this didn't matter as I only used it on my bike............. wrong. It worked OK for about an hour into each ride then condensation would form in the display and it would stop. Sent it to Polar for repair and it was knackered. Had to buy a new watch. So much for saving a few quid!0

I changed my own watch battery and everything is so far good!! I'm not gonna take it anywhere near water or heavy rain tho.
I've never had problems with my chest strap. I only ever lick the contacts or rub them with my wet fingers. One thing I do religiously is to rinse and dry my strap after every use!! This is without fail!!!! I've never had problems. You must make sure the contacts are dry and salt free otherwise they still conduct electricity and wear the battery down when you ain't using it.0
