Disc Brake problems

hello.
My disc brakes aren't gripping at all, they are locking ibto the disc but just scraping past. I've tried recalibrating them, washing them and scraping them down a bit but to no avail. The only way I can see that they might not grip was if I got lube on them on my last clean but I always mask them off.
Any ideas? They are Deore resin pads on a 05 Kona Kikapu.

lever feel the same?
replace pads and clean discs with meths."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Changing the pads anyway. I've got a feeling I might have put the wrong type of pad on i.e. ceramic not resin0

Ceramic? You mean sintered?
Deore brakes should work with resin or sintered pads.
Sintered pads do take a bit more bedding in.
Provided there's plenty material left on the pads, find a nice long downhill, get up some speed, and keep applying the brakes for a few seconds at a time. This should get the pads nicely warmed up, bed them in, and burn of any surface contamination.
If that doesn't work, and the lever doesn't feel spongy, then it's most likely the pads have got contaminated with something. But I'd try a good bedding in run before replacing them.0 -
I've had a similar problem when I've accidently got GT85 on the rear pads. Braking down a long hill didn;t do the trick, so Itook the pads out placed them in a vice and filed off the surface with a fine fiile, rubbed the disc with some 600 grade wet and dry paper and cleaned it with iso propryl alcohol. Hey preso rear brake as good as new.0
