Increase in pressure or replace spring?

I have some RockShox Recon 351's on my lruvely new DMR ExAlt. My mate reckons that my forks are too soft and that they need to be stiffer.

Currently the air pressure is 140psi. I have read the manual and it doesn't say what the ceiling pressure is.

So my question is this- can I and do I increase the air pressure or do I need to look at a firmer spring? If I can adjust the pressure further, is it worth buying a pump of my own and adjust the pressures dependant on need or just roll with the "usual"?

I do the obligatory downhilling every now and again, but mostly do street, park, dirt jump and 4x.

Can anyone help? :D

well there is no spring to change. and really you dont have the right forks for what you are using them form.

    But add more air.

I bought them as an all mountain fork with the idea of getting into downhilling.

All the best plans and all that.... to be honest I really like my forks as they are but just want them a little firmer.

It's nice not being able to change my spring cos I don't have one- I thought so but wasn't 100%.

So do you know what the highest pressure is without over doing it?

Nick; you're a great guy. Thanks for your help.

I have adjusted the rebound, but I don't think that I have floodgate and motion control.

On one fork is the lock out, at the bottom of that fork is the rebound. On the other fork is the air valve.

I have the pop loc remote fitted. You can turn it either on or off if that helps!

see if you can get the adjustable one then you can set the compresiom to where you want when it is not locked.

you should also set the flood gate.

read the manual. it does help.

hahahhaha!!!! I have, but it' so much easier explained to me!!!!

I will increase the air pressure first and then consider the adjustable lock out.

Cheers again and i shall leave you in peace,

    thanks mate. Dan
