My bike won`t always freewheeel, the pedals go round when I push the bike along. It seems the freehub is sticking a bit,and it makes a noise a bit like dragging brakes do ,when it turns.
Is it a case of take it off clean and relube,or is it a sign its on its way out?
Whats the procedure for cleaning, and what lube do you reccomend?

(Deore M5252 hub,1 year old.)

Do they tend to come off easily or do they need a bit of force to get off?
Merlin have a deore freehub for £15.Are all the deore freehubs basically the same, regardless of ExAct model,eg m475,525 AND SO ON?

Cleaned and relubed freehub.Regreased the rear hub bearings whilst I was at,it.Recentred the rear caliper.Tightened the rotor bolts.Adjusted the bearings.Put it all together and the problem was still there.

Realised that it was the f8*cking spoke protector catching on the reverse of the cassette, all along that was causing the problem!

Anyway all sorted, and a useful learning curve!Plus the bike`s running very sweetly now.
