LTS-DH / Long Travel Triples?

Hi, me again....

I've spotted some old Pace RC150 Monster forks and wondered if these would completely kill my LTS? I know this frame were designed around the old Judy DH 80mm forks so this probably wouldn't be a good idea but I don't know if i can resist the pace forks.

Does anyone remember how these ride? Also, with the cheap price of Boxxers on ebay maybe i could consider these too?

Maybe i'm dreaming though......

Thanks for your time

I remember my mate stacking his 1998 LTS DS with triple clamps, and crumpling the tubes... So it is definitely a risk. Mind you he hit the front end of a 10ft double at speed lol. GT wouldn't honour the warranty.

Tries to remember... I think they were well reviewed, but needed a lot of maintenance to keep them running smooth, and something tells me the seals were bad. They were light though, just over 6lbs IIRC.

My advice would be to stick to single crown. If you wanna keep the old retro look, a set of orange Z1 BAMS!
  • Cheers for that, I won't bother with the shiny carbon beauties then.

Z1 BAMs were actually my first choice but i'm running a 'vintage' (read old) fat bodied hope bug'un up front with a 20mm axle so my choice is limited. I did see some of the original Z1 slaloms with the bolt thru axle but was outbid at the last mo, hence the drop offs.

Pretty sure GT wouldn't honour my warranty now anyway unfortunately, different company innit? and maybe a few too many years have passed....

Lol, no chance with the warranty of course, it was mainly to highlight that GT definitely didn't design this particular version with triples in mind. Saying that, the LTS 3000 had a RST Hi 5...

We should start a retro GT owners thread lol.

re the paces you would be more than likely to be out bid by some one who alredy has some that needs spares.

if you are running discs (sounds like it with the big un) then you could find many 20mm axled forks out there that would do.

  • Hi nick

I hadn't noticed the lack of purple, well spotted!

With the single crown forks you mention before which should i keep me eyes open for? on a tight budget but don't think the drop offs will be around for much longer (just not nice!)

    Thanks for the input

sonic has a thing for purple

well considering you allredy have some marz 20mm forks with a leg diameter of (measure and insert ) i would be looking on the bay for some with the same diameter legs but with better internals and broken external parts.

  • Thanks for the tip on the internals, will keep the old peepers peeled.

sonic likes purple, good to know someone is keeping that alive these days with all the 'white is right' jump bikes i've noticed. Damn this scene's changed while i was gone.
